Build Notes

My model represents a Rei-sen belonging to the 1st Koku Kantai aboard the aircraft carrier Akagi during the December 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. Piloted by Petty Officer 1st Class Tadao Kimura, it took part in the second-wave strike force.

Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, Kimura continued to serve in the grueling Pacific air war alongside Shindō. He became one of the relatively few early-war carrier veteran pilots to successfully survive the entire conflict.
